International Red Panda Day 2018

On September 15, 2018, the 9th International Red Panda Day (IRPD) took place around the world, and the 5th French edition! As you know, the IRPD was created by the Red Panda Network (RPN), the American Association for the Protection of the Red Panda, to raise awareness of the preservation of this animal as many people as possible, and to raise funds to support their actions in the field, especially in Nepal.

For more information on the RPN, click here.

This year, 12 French parks participated in the event: Espace zoologique St Martin-la-Plaine (02/09), the Haute Touche zoological reserve (11 and 12/08), the Jardin des Plantes Menagerie, Le Pal, supported by the Le Pal Nature Foundation, the Ste Croix animal park, Touroparc, the Parc de Clères, the Mulhouse Animal and Botanical Park, the La Boissière-du-Doré zoo (30/09), the Amnéville zoo and the Lille zoo.

CPPR was present in 5 of these parks.

On the program: animations (coloring, face painting, origami...), games, raffles... The commented feedings made it possible to gather the public towards the stands at the various hours of the day, the volunteers of the CPPR taking the relay by proposing the challenge of the pandas, or simply by starting the conversation on the various actions carried out by the Association, in cooperation with the Red Panda Network, by underlining the project of the CPPR to leave for a mission to Nepal at the end of the year

The public was very sensitive to our speech, encouraging us in this project.

Back in pictures on the different events:

At the Parc de Clères, the students of the "Panda Roux" club of the André Raimbourg secondary school of Doudeville came to give their last gift to our vice-president, Anne-Gwénaël, because having passed their "brevet", the students have each left for new adventures.

We were really proud and happy to work with them during these three years, and we wish them a very good continuation. Congratulations to you all!

This year, more than 2500€ were raised for the NPR. We would like to thank all the parks that made this event possible.

If you also want to get involved in the preservation of the Red Panda, do not hesitate to contact us, to talk about it around you, and help us to make them known!
