After a visit to the Gangtok Zoo (Himalayan Zoological Park), we focused on the problems of the breeding center, currently a large enclosure separated into two parts by a fence on a wooded area of 1 hectare.
Although there is a backstop system to prevent access to the panthers, the fence has proven insufficient, and almost all of the red pandas have been wiped out by canine distemper, carried by stray dogs.

Build a wall around the breeding center to revive the breeding program in Sikkim.
The Himalayan Zoological Park (HZP) in Gangtok, Sikkim, northern India, is a breeding center for red pandas, with the ultimate goal of reintroducing them into their natural habitat. Almost all of the red pandas have fallen victim to canine distemper, transmitted by stray dogs near the enclosures. This tragedy has led to new measures being taken to secure the area.
In partnership with the HZP, the CPPR decided to help build a perimeter wall to ensure on-site reproduction.
The HZP's "My Child from the Wild" campaign allows for the sponsorship of an animal to raise funds. At the same time, we have launched the "Building the Sikkim City Wall" fundraising campaign.
Goal : 31 000 €
Raising awareness in schools
